It is said that every year, during the tenth month of the lunar calendar, all Kami-sama gather at Izumo Taisha in Shimane, the home prefecture of Shusse Inari Shrine. This month is known as Kamiarizuki, “The Month with Kami Present”. During this time, the Kami-sama hold Kamuhakari, a divine gathering in which they discuss and determine the ties and relationships between people for the coming year.
The Kami-sama have the power of Enmusubi, which allows them to connect and strengthen the bonds between people. These connections are not limited to romantic relationships, but also include bonds between family members, friends, coworkers, and others. A person may pray to Kami-sama to help them build and strengthen their current relationships.
