Shinto Coming of Age celebration for newly adult men and women.
When a person reaches the age of adulthood, they visit a Shinto shrine and show appreciation for their growth. Then the individual who has joined the ranks of adults is reported to the Kami-sama. They give gratitude to their parents and/or the people around them who helped raise them. As a new member of society, they vow to contribute to society and they pray for divine protection.
