Please place the Ofuda in a Kamidana, or high on the north or west wall in your living room or workplace. Although it is common to place an Ofuda in a Kamidana, it is also fine to have just an Ofuda stand or a clean place above eye level.
Please place the Ofuda in a well-lit area where everyone gathers–not in a hallway, closet, or above a doorway.
After one year, the bond established between the Kami-sama and the item will naturally diminish. To demonstrate your appreciation, please return or mail these items back to the Shinto Shrine for Otakiage. Kindly ensure they are carefully wrapped, as they remain spiritually connected to the Shrine. The Otakiage ceremony, along with more detailed instructions, is available under the "Ceremonies" section of our website.
