On Saturday, August 8th at 7:00 p.m. PDT, please join us 81 years after the bombing of Nagasaki. Bring a bell if you have one! From hand bells to church bells and even cow bells, we will let the bells ring to pray for peace at the moment the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki 81 years ago, and reaffirm our commitment to world peace.
We will observe the anniversary with Bells for Peace and a silent prayer for the spirits of those who lost their lives to the atomic bombs. Bells for Peace is the legacy of our Shrine supporter, the late Richard Yutaka Fukuhara. This is a secular ceremony.

During the public closing talk of this ceremony, we were honored to welcome a special guest speaker, Mr. Kōsei Mito, a Hibakusha (survivor of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima). You can watch his important presentation on our YouTube channel.
