We are looking for volunteers to help out at an event in Bellevue (Seattle area) on October 12th and 13th.
Event Location: BCA Saturday School Campus 14673 NE 29th Place, Bellevue, WA 98007
This is a special chance to learn about Shinto, a traditional Japanese religion. If you're interested in becoming a Miko (shrine maiden), a Shrine assistant, or if you are just interested in helping the priest, you need to join us as a volunteer.
Volunteering is a great way to learn more about Shinto and what it involves! You’ll gain firsthand experience that you can't get just by reading or searching online. Being there in person makes a big difference! Plus, volunteering can be helpful for your college applications! (We can provide a certificate for community service if needed.)
Please note: You should be able to stand for long periods, handle hot or cold weather, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Shinto objects are sacred and contain spirits, so they must be treated carefully and properly, following the priest’s guidance.
You will receive training from our lead, Reverend Izumi, and need to follow their instructions.
