On Saturday, August 5th at 4:10 p.m. PDT, Shinto Shrine of Shusse Inari in America, will hold a Peace Prayer and Memorial Ceremony to reconfirm our commitment to world peace and to pray for the spirits of those who lost their lives on the 78th anniversary of the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima (August 6th, 1945) and Nagasaki (August 9th, 1945).

The Closing Talk of this ceremony will be open to the public and about the Earth Hiroshima project by Ms. Chizuru Gorai. Earth Hiroshima website: https://earth-hiroshima.jp
In Hiroshima and Nagasaki, 150,000 people, including children, were killed in the initial attack. By the end of 1945, thousands more had died from the bomb’s effects, including Americans, Australians, Dutch, Chinese, and Koreans. Even those who survived suffered greatly with health issues caused by radiation and by passing on genetic damage to the next generations.
We will hold our ceremony on the same day and time that the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima 78 years ago. Let us pray for peace for the spirits who died from the atomic bombs and seek world peace together! The Peace Prayer and Memorial Ceremony for Atomic Bombs will be held Saturday, August 5th, 2023 at 4:10 pm (PDT) On YouTube Live at ShintoInari.
On Tuesday, August 8th at 7:00 p.m. PDT, please join us 78 years after the bombing of Nagasaki. Bring a bell if you have one! From hand bells to church bells and even cow bells, we wil let the bells ring to pray for peace at the moment the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki 78 years ago, and reaffirm our commitment to world peace.
We will observe the anniversary with Bells for Peace and a silent prayer for the spirits of those who lost their lives to the atomic bombs. Bells for Peace is the legacy of our Shrine supporter, the late Richard Yutaka Fukuhara. This is a secular ceremony.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT MORE THAN EVER!! We need your support to raise funds to open a community center (Shinto Shrine). When we have a shrine building, we will invite various guests who will recount their experiences. There will also be events where you can make origami cranes to send to Hiroshima and Nagasaki to reconfirm our commitment to world peace.
